The Osceola Seminoles defeated Walnut Ridge 35-14 in 3A-3 football action Friday night at Osceola.

Osceola got on the scoreboard first with a touchdown and PAT at the 8:35 mark of the first quarter. The Bobcats responded with Blane Wade’s 12-yard run later in the period. Wade ran for the conversion to give Walnut Ridge an 8-7 lead with 2:12 to play in the opening stanza.

Osceola struck quickly with a touchdown in the closing seconds of the quarter to regain the lead at 13-8 at the end of the period.

The score remained 13-8 until Osceola scored on a touchdown pass with 1:30 to play in the half. The Walnut Ridge defense stopped the two-point attempt to keep the Seminole’s lead at 19-8 heading into the locker room at halftime.

The Seminoles came out strong after the break, scoring two touchdowns and two-point conversions in the third quarter to move out to a 35-8 lead.

Wade scored his second touchdown of the night on a four-yard run with 2:46 to play in the game for Walnut Ridge’s final points.

Wade led the Bobcats in rushing with 72 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. Kai Watson ran for 49 yards on 12 carries, and Mari Thomas finished with 44 yards on 14 attempts. Thomas was also 0-for-2 passing.

The loss dropped Walnut Ridge’s record to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Bobcats are scheduled to host Manila this week. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
